IF YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL INTEREST IN MISOPHONIA, AS A DOCTOR OR OTHER HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONER...
these webpages may be of particular interest to you.
Misophonia is a neuro-otological diagnosis that was established in 2001 by American otolaryngologists Pawel and Margaret Jastreboff. It has remained a Cinderella condition, with limited recognition from patients and doctors alike, despite emerging evidence to show a) its prevalence and b) its potentially devastating effects on the families and friends of sufferers. One feature that has helped to hobble its development has been its multi-disciplinary nature. Effective therapeutic intervention may require the services of an audiologist, ENT specialist (preferably an audiological physician), neurologist, psychiatrist and clinical psychologist, not to mention the involvement of medical researchers in beginning properly to understand its aetiology. One of the aims of this website is to focus attention on this hitherto neglected condition.
